The Downtown Barrie BIA has issued a thank-you to everyone who visited our Noella Tree Lot before Christmas in support of Hospice Simcoe.

"Set up in the heart of our community at Meridian Place, the lot is a fun and festive way of giving back over the holiday," the business organization says in a news release. "Now that we’ve caught up from Christmas and the flurry of the season, we’re glad to be able to pass on the proceeds."

Downtown Barrie BIA operations manager Stacey Zubczyk recently presented Hospice Simcoe's Marilyn Guest with a cheque for $700, from the proceeds of the 2022 Noella Tree Lot.

"Hospice Simcoe serves our community in remarkable ways," the BIA says. "Hospice palliative care is aimed at relieving suffering and improving the quality of life for persons who are living with, or dying from, advanced illness or are bereaved. This care includes pain and symptom management in conjunction with social, psychological, spiritual and practical support.

Downtown Barrie says it's "proud to support such an important cause," adding the Noella Tree Lot has become "a beloved event in downtown Barrie and we look forward to continuing the tradition."
