On Dec. 8, 2016, Barrie Police Service Deputy Chief Bruce E. Carlson announced his intention to retire, effective Aug. 31, 2017 after 35 years of dedicated police service.

Deputy Carlson began his career with the Barrie Police Service as an Auxiliary in 1982, was sworn in as a Police Constable in May of 1983, progressed through the ranks and was appointed Deputy Chief in September of 2010.

Chief Kimberley Greenwood states that, “Deputy Carlson has had a distinguished career with the Barrie Police Service, is a man of great integrity and a leader in the policing industry, contributing greatly to the safety and security of our community.”

Members of the Barrie Police Service and the Police Services Board wish Deputy Carlson much happiness and enjoyment in his well-deserved retirement.
