Barrie Police were called to a hotel on Bayfield Street at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning with regards to a disturbance.

Several patrons had been awoken to a fight in the hallway and attended to see what was causing the commotion.

They observed two males, punching and kicking a male that had already gone to the floor. Bystanders stepped in to break up the fight.

The two brawlers left the area of the assault but witnesses pointed them out to arriving police and they were quickly arrested.

One of the males had attempted to hide in a stairwell as he knew that he was violating conditions of an earlier release for similar but unrelated offences.

The males were transported to the Barrie Police Station and now face a number of charges:

A 21 year old Aurora man is charged with Assault and Cause Disturbance and was released on a Promise to Appear with a future court date. A 20 year old male from Georgina is charged with the same and additionally with two counts of Failure to Comply with Conditions of his earlier Recognizance.  He will be held for Bail.

The unfortunate victim of the assault received a cut and some bruises but did not require medical attention and is grateful for the involvement of bystanders.
