Local Barrie singer-songwriter Jessie Gosling just released her debut single, Princess. Accompanying the song is a video directed by herself that was filmed in the Ardagh Bluffs with her friends, featuring animation by local artist Jessica Spurrell.

Jessie wrote Princess about a specific feeling she had on the way to see her friends last summer. Reminiscent of a stroll through the woods on a warm, cloudy day, Princess is filled with haunting harmonies and floating guitar. This song is the first piece of her EP set to release later this summer.

Jessie chose this song as her first release for a reason; Princess is self-produced, peppered with absurd lyrics, and brings itself together with a melodramatic ending. The song is truly a piece of herself.

You may have seen Jessie’s performances on the Ontario Musicians Co-operative live streams, which will continue this summer and are accessible through her Instagram. She has also shared her talents on the Simcoe Rising Star stage as a finalist and made musical appearances at the Collingwood Art Crawl.

As Barrie emerges from lockdown, Jessie is excited to continue her presence in the local music scene. She is off to pursue a bachelor’s degree in music this fall at Humber College and is devoted to developing her musical skills. With the release of her debut EP this fall, Jessie is excited to share her music and her story.
