The following letter is in response to ''Slap in our face': Hwy. 11 protesters rally against carbon tax,' published April 12.
The people protesting the carbon tax have been fed Conservative party misinformation.
First, each citizen receives a rebate from the federal government for the carbon tax, and second, the cost at the pumps is three cents more, an amount that it regularly goes up and down — and more than that — regardless of tax. Thirdly, and most importantly, we all have to fight climate change while there is, hopefully, still time.
These same protesters might find their air-conditioner costs soaring as summers heat up, and insurance problems due to fires, etc. Since Premier Doug Ford’s Ontario government did not put in place its own carbon emissions reduction plan, the federal government has to do it for them.
Wise up. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre lies to get elected.
