*************************

Hi, my name is Lisa-Marie Wilson. Foremost, I am a mother to two wonderful children and a nana to two beautiful grandchildren.

My oldest graduated with his honour’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in August 2019 and is following his mother’s example working as a public servant, and my youngest graduated in June 2018 from Bear Creek Secondary School and is currently running his own business.

I received my degree in psychology from York University and my diploma in social service work from Seneca College. I then began my professional career in public service working for the Ministry of Community and Social Services, then the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, and now currently with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, formally known as the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.

I first called Barrie home when we moved in 1993. Since then Barrie has grown tremendously and our population has become wonderfully culturally diverse.

I am excited to see this reflected in many ways, however there is more to do.

I have previously volunteered in various capacities in my community from coaching Barrie children’s soccer to helping out in the Out of the Cold program. I try to live each day by the motto “be the light in the world you want to see” and I am proud to call Barrie home.

In 2018, I ran in the municipal election and was elected to trustee for the Simcoe County District School Board. This experience has been rewarding. I have been able to bring a much-needed diverse lens to the Simcoe County District School Board and the families and students we serve. This is why I am once again looking for your vote to re-elect me, Lisa-Marie Wilson, in Wards 7, 8, 9 and 10.

My passion remains to build a truly inclusive, equitable and diverse community where each person has the opportunity to succeed, especially our children.
