Several familiar faces returning to Essa Township council

Only one new name added to council as Liana Maltby beats Ron Henderson in Ward 3

The unofficial results are in for Essa Township and most of the incumbents were returned to council. 

There is no change at top, with Mayor Sandie Macdonald and Deputy Mayor Michael Smith both being acclaimed. 

In Ward 1, incumbent Pieter Kiezebrink was victorious with 518 votes over Francesco Lo Greco with 294.

Henry Sander, who is also an incumbent, won in Ward 2 with 505 votes, beating Shawn Bubel who had 306 and Paul Partridge with 110.

Liana Maltby won in Ward 3 with 337 votes, besting incumbent Ron Henderson who lost his seat with 265 votes. 

Brandy Rafeek was the runaway winner for English public school board trustee with 1,502 votes, followed by Douglas Yeaman with 457.

Carla Beckett won English separate school board trustee with 122 votes, just four more than Janice Hutchison. 

Eric Lapointe won French public school board trustee in the township with 10 votes, ahead of Saveria Caruso with two. 

Claire Thibideau was acclaimed in the township as French separate school board trustee. 

The results still need to be certified by the township clerk.
