Charges pending after mother and child injured in morning crash on 400

Crash closed Highway 400 through sections of Barrie and Innisfil; woman and two-year-old child sent to hospital with undisclosed injuries

A serious crash this morning on Highway 400 in Innisfil sent a woman and her two-year-old child to hospital with undisclosed injuries, according to OPP.

The incident closed Highway 400 in both directions between Innisfil Beach Road and Barrie's Mapleview Drive for part of Friday morning. All lanes are now open.

Ontario Provincial Police say emergency crews received the call around 7:30 a.m. on April 19. Photos from the scene also show an Ornge air ambulance had been dispatched.

The OPP's highway safety division reported two vehicles were involved in the incident and one rolled over. Police say the first vehicle is alleged to have been travelling "erratically," leading to the collision.

A man who was the driver of the vehicle that rolled was unhurt and faces charges which have not yet been released, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told BarrieToday.
