The YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka is excited to host their Annual Celebration next month and is pleased to invite the public to help them celebrate.

The event will be held on Monday, May 6 at 5:30 p.m. at the Barrie Country Club, 635 St. Vincent St., and is open to all YMCA supporters, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partner organizations.

“We’re excited to celebrate and shine a light on our Y’s accomplishments from this past year at our Annual Celebration, and we hope the community will join us,” said Jill Tettmann, CEO of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka. “Without the support of our YMCA community, we could not offer the vital programs and services that the community looks to the Y to provide.”

Tettmann expressed her gratitude and thanks for the community’s continued support of the YMCA, stating, “This event is as much about celebrating our community supporters as it is about sharing the Y’s impact. We hope that you’ll join us as we celebrate all we have achieved together.”

The event reception will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the program getting underway at 6 p.m. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Attendees will hear about some of the Y’s many accomplishments from this past year, including the following highlights:

  • Volunteers gave 19,653 hours of their time to support YMCA programs.
  • Over $1,151,000 was raised through annual fundraising events.
  • 2,700 newcomers were welcomed and supported by YMCA immigrant services.
  • Over 1,100 families received financial assistance to access YMCA health, fitness, and aquatics programs.
  • 684 children and youth attended camp with support from the YMCA’s financial assistance program.

There will also be updates about exciting collaborations with community partner organizations, including Parks Canada’s new partnership with YMCA Camp Kitchikewana, and Georgian College’s innovative partnership with the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka on the Future of Belonging project.

“When we come together as a community, we have the ability to accomplish great things and ignite positive change,” said Todd Young, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka’s board chair. “This past year is a testament to that. Through collaboration and mutual support, we’ve touched the lives of thousands, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.”

Interested community members are asked to RSVP for the YMCA’s Annual Celebration online by April 29.
