Automated speed enforcement is now in effect in Barrie

Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) is a system that uses speed cameras to enforce speed limits. “Municipal Speed Camera in Use" signs are posted in areas where ASE cameras are live. If you go over the posted speed limit in select community safety zones, a photo of your licence plate is taken and a ticket is mailed to the registered plate holder.

The City will hold a public meeting to consider changing the current Zoning By-law to allow up to four dwelling units on residentially-zoned parcels of land.

Barrie residents, your hangtag waterfront parking pass expires December 31!

The hangtag waterfront parking pass system is being phased out, and all hangtag passes for Barrie residents will expire December 31, 2023. A digital waterfront parking permit is free for Barrie residents and allows residents to park free in select waterfront areas. 
Overnight parking restrictions are now in effect

Overnight parking restrictions are now in effect

From December 1 through to March 31, on-street parking is not permitted on City streets from 12:01 to 7am, and 3 to 6 am. within the Downtown Business Improvement Area.

Registration is open for the City’s winter recreation and culture programming. The City is also offering special kids holiday programs like a Winter Break Camp, a Ornament & Card Making Class and a Winter Wonderland program.

Yard waste is collected every other week in December, opposite your garbage week. Yard waste collection occurs weekly in January to accommodate Christmas tree collection.
