Woman faces numerous charges in credit card theft investigation

Thirty-two-year-old Barrie woman faces more than 20 charges relating to incidents that occurred in the month of October

Barrie Police Service have identified the female responsible for the theft and use of credit card in relation to various occurrences throughout the month of October. 

On Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 police received a report for a theft from Allendale Rec Center located at 190 Bayview Dr., in the City of Barrie, where the suspect obtained car keys and a cell phone from an unlocked locker, gaining access to a vehicle in the parking lot where a wallet and various cheques were stolen. 

Subsequently, on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 the victim was notified by Cheques 4 Cash, located at 79 Dunlop St. W., in the City of Barrie, that a female had attempted to deposit a cheque that belonged to the victim. 

Police continued the investigation and became aware the accused used a stolen health card to identify herself when attempting to deposit the cheque. The second victim was identified and advised police her wallet was stolen from her vehicle at Planet Fitness located at 320 Bayfield St., in the City of Barrie, on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017.

On Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 the accused was arrested for shoplifting at No Frills located at 165 Wellington St. W., in the City of Barrie. At the time of the arrest the female verbally identified herself as someone else, providing police with enough information to lead them to believe she was the person she identified herself as. After the accused was released it was learned she had mislead police during the investigation. 

On Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 the victim had the keys to his truck stolen out of a locker at East Bayfield Community Center located at 80 Livingstone St. E., in the City of Barrie. The suspect used his keys to enter his vehicle parked in the parking lot, stealing his wallet. 

At 4:30 p.m. the victim's credit card was used at the Shell Gas Station located at 204 Grove St. and then again at 4:37 p.m. at the Mac's Convenience located at 149 St. Vincent St.

The 32-year-old Barrie female was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime x11
  • Fraud under $5,000 x6
  • Theft under $5,000 x5
  • Use credit card x5
  • Fail to comply with probation order x4
  • Identity fraud x4
  • Obstruct peace officer x3
  • Utter forged document

The female was held pending a bail hearing in a Barrie Court Wednesday to answer to the list of charges.
