sexual assault, break and enter, calls for service

The following are news releases issued by the South Simcoe Police Service:

On Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, around 5 a.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to an Innisfil home. A woman reported to officers that she had just been sexually assaulted by a male acquaintance. A 26-year-old man from Barrie was arrested at the scene and charged with sexual assault.

He will appear in court in November and must not contact the victim.

 On Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, South Simcoe Police Service officers were called to a home on Scanlon Avenue in Bradford. Sometime between 7:15 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., a suspect entered the home through an open basement window. A laptop, jewelry and cash were removed from the home.

Most break and enters occur during daylight hours while residents are at work or school. Citizens are reminded to secure their homes before leaving for the day.
