Barrie Police Service, along with Barrie Fire and Emergency Service and Simcoe County Paramedic Service, were called to the area of Johnson's Beach Friday after residents living along the shoreline heard a male shouting for help.

On Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at 8:20 p.m., the three tiers of emergency services attended while Barrie Fire conducted the on-ice rescue of a male just off shore in medical distress. The male had sustained an injury to his arm and was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. Located beside the male on the ice was property that appeared to be stolen with identification of a female. The property was traced back to a house on Penetanguishine Road where a broken window at the rear of the house was discovered. Officers were also able to follow a blood trail about 200m long from the residence to the spot the male was located.

The 41-year-old Barrie male was charged with break and enter, possess property obtained by crime and breach probation. He was remanded over the weekend and will re-appear in a Barrie court room Monday.
