Youth faces weapons, drug-trafficking charges in Angus

Police say they seized a number of controlled substances; also charged with drug trafficking is a 41-year-old woman

ESSA TWP. - The Nottawasaga detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Warrant and the results were alarming due to the age of the offender. 

Both the Nottawasaga and Dufferin County OPP Community Street Crime Units (CSCU) were involved in this investigation and their collaborative efforts have made Angus a little safer. 

On Aug. 15, 2019, the CSCU seized a large quantity and wide variety of controlled substances including: Cocaine, Codeine, MDMA, LSD, Psilocybin, Oxycodone, Xanax and numerous prescription drugs. Along with the assortment of drugs, police seized several thousands of dollars in Canadian currency.

During the search, police also located two illegally possessed firearms that were both loaded.

As a result a young offender has been charged with numerous weapons, drug-trafficking and bail violation offences.

A 41-year-old female from Angus has also been charged with a drug-trafficking related offence. 

The male youth who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act was held for a bail hearing. The adult female has been released and is due to appear in a Bradford courtroom in September.
