Police are reminding drivers to follow the rules of the road after concerning incidents were reported during a recent lane closure.

Orillia OPP is continuing to investigate a collision that occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday on Highway 11, north of Line 14.

One person was airlifted to a Toronto hospital after a tractor-trailer struck the guard rail.

The highway has since reopened in both directions. However, during the lane closure, police said two barricades were rammed and removed from their mounts, resulting in “significant damages.”

Police also received reports of people driving in the wrong direction on both the highway and on-ramps.

Also, an officer at the scene laid three charges against drivers for operating vehicles while using handheld devices to get photos or video of the scene.

Anyone with information about the collision, or who has dash cam footage of the collision, is asked to call police at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.
