On Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 3:20 a.m., Barrie Police responded to 65 Lakeshore Drive in the area of Centennial Beach, for a report of an assault that occurred south of the play structure.

A female was struck in the face by a male who immediately left the park area.

Police received information before attending the area that the suspect left in a black Dodge vehicle and there were multiple black males involved. Police were unable to locate a black vehicle in the area.

The assault is believed to be as result of a racial slur made by the female. At this time, the investigation has revealed that remarks were made, but not toward the unknown male suspect, but in reference to a song.

The male suspect was described as black, approximately 18 years old and 6'2" tall. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt with a red "V" on the front with a blue boarder. There were no other defining characteristics or clothing described to police.

Police are asking for assistance from the public in the event that there is a witness to the event. Anyone who may be able to assist the Barrie Police is asked to email the investigating officer at [email protected].
