Woman nabbed for speeding in safety zone near Rama Central

Driver, a 43-year-old from Oakville, refused to submit to a roadside breath test, OPP say

RAMARA TWP. - On Tuesday Sept. 10, 2019 at approximately 9:15 a.m. the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol conducting speed enforcement on County Road 169 near Rama Central School in the Township of Ramara.

At this time, officers noted a vehicle at a high rate of speed in the Community Safety Zone. The vehicle was travelling 102 kilometres per hour in a posted 60 kilometre per hour zone.

Upon approach of the vehicle, police determined that the driver had an odour of an alcoholic beverage on her person. The driver refused to submit to a roadside breath test.

As a result 43-year-old Tasha Fluke of Oakville was charged with refusal to submit to a breath demand contrary to section 320.15(1) of the Criminal Code and speeding in a community safety zone contrary to Section 128 of the Highway Traffic Act. 

The suspect was released on an appearance notice with a court date of Oct. 08, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia. She was also issued a part 3 summons for the same court date.
