Victim says he was punched in the face at Walmart

A seemingly unprovoked assault in the middle of the day at a Barrie grocery store has launched an investigation by officers to identify the suspect.

On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at approximately 2:45 p.m., a male was shopping in the grocery section of Walmart located at 35 Mapleveiw Dr. in the City of Barrie. An unknown male turned toward the victim and allegedly struck him directly in the face before continuing to walk through the produce aisle. 

Once out of the area, the suspect turned and fled from the store and was observed leaving the parking lot in a white car. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault. 

The suspect is unknown at this time and police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the male so more information can be obtained in relation to the events leading up to the assault.

Description:

  • Male, white
  • 5'10" and large build
  • Approximately 30 to 40 years old
  • Wearing black sunglasses, green patterned shirt, dark shorts and sandals
