Vehicle rolls into swamp; Wasaga man faces impaired charges

Driver was uninjured but showed signs of impairment; 40-year-old male charged

SOUTH BRUCE - On July 21, 2019 just after 7:30 p.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision where a motor vehicle had rolled into a swamp at Concession 10 in South Bruce.  

A member of the South Bruce OPP located the driver who was uninjured. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and the officer determined the driver had consumed alcohol. 

The male driver was arrested and transported to the OPP Detachment for breath tests completed by a qualified breath technician.  

Forty-year-old Jimmy Rodgers of Wasaga Beach was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol - S. 320.14(1)(a) CC
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus - S. 320.14(1)(b) CC

The accused is required to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice - Walkerton, on Aug.21, 2019, to answer to the charges.
