Vehicle crashes into Midland home; charges laid

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded at 2:55 a.m. Sept. 18, 2019 to a report of a vehicle into a house on William Street in the town of Midland.

Responding officers along with Midland Fire Services and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services located and treated five occupants of the vehicle. Four passengers were transported by County of Simcoe Paramedics to Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) for treatment of their injuries and later released.

A male occupant of the vehicle was identified as the driver and a drinking and driving investigation was commenced at the scene.

The completed investigation has resulted in Kyle Sandy, 27 years, of Christian Island being charged with the following driving offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation causing bodily harm (2) counts

He was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Oct. 3, 2019, his driver's licence that has been suspended for 90 days under the conditions of the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS).
