Update to suspicious package investigation

On Wednesday September 2, 2015 at approximately 7:20 p.m., the Orillia OPP responded to a report of a suspicious package containing an unknown substance.

The suspicious package was found at a Monarch Drive business in the City of Orillia.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) successfully dealt with the suspicious package which has been seized by the Orillia Crime Unit.

The OPP investigation into this matter culminated in the arrest of three youths late last week.  

As a result of additional information that has now been confirmed, the OPP, in consultation with the Crown Attorney’s Office at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Orillia have reconsidered the laying of criminal charges as it is now apparent that there was no criminality that can be attributed to this matter.

The OPP wish to apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
