Two Newmarket women charged in hit-and-run near Cookstown

Two Newmarket women have been charged following an alleged hit-and-run involving a pedestrian on Wednesday in Innisfil. 

South Simcoe police say the women failed to remain at the scene of the collision, which happened Wednesday, March 22 at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Police say a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Highway 89 and Highway 400 in the Cookstown area. 

The 35-year-old man was treated in hospital for minor injuries and later released.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested two Newmarket women and laid charges, including failure to stop after a collision and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Charged are Shelli Stummer, 56, and Lori Longstaff, 60. Both were released with a future court date.
