Two in critical condition following crash in Adjala-Tos

A southbound vehicle and a northbound vehicle collided head-on, causing extensive front end damage to both vehicles

TOWNSHIP OF ADJALA-TOSORONTIO - On Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, were called to the scene of a collision involving two motor vehicles.

The collision occurred on Concession Road 5, south of the 25th Sideroad when a southbound vehicle and a northbound vehicle collided head-on, causing extensive front end damage to both vehicles.  

The 23-year-old male driver and the 18-year-old female passenger of the southbound vehicle were transferred by air ambulance to a Toronto hospital with life-threatening injuries and they remain in critical condition.  

The 81-year-old male driver of the northbound vehicle was land-transferred to a local hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers were assisted at the scene by members from the Simcoe County Paramedic Services and Adjala-Tosorontio Fire Services. The road remained closed for several hours while the Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Team (TTCI) documented the scene and gathered evidence.

The OPP continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
