Two face drinking and driving charges in unrelated incidents

One was stopped for a driving infraction, the other at a RIDE check

ESSA TOWNSHIP - This past weekend officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two drivers with alcohol related offences.

The first investigation began on County Road 90 on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at approximately 2:20 a.m., for a Highway Traffic Act infraction. After further investigation into the vehicle driver, 42-year-old Adam Henshaw of Essa was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) (CCC)
  • Operation While Impaired - Alcohol (CCC)

He received an immediate driver's licence suspension for 90 days under the Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and will attend a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.

A second investigation began at approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2019, when officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program south of Angus.

An officer approached a vehicle as it entered the RIDE check and an odour of alcohol was detected. Following an investigation into the driver, 50-year-old Lawney Crawley of Innisfil was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) (CCC)
  • Operation while Impaired - Alcohol (CCC)
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Liquor (LLA)

He received an immediate driver's licence suspension for 90 days under the Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (ADLS) program and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and will attend a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford.

The Nottawasaga OPP would like to remind the public to call 9-1-1 if you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs.
