Two accused of defrauding elderly Clearview Township woman

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP - On Jan. 25, 2018, members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report that an elderly female from Clearview Township had been defrauded out of several thousands of dollars.

After a lengthy investigation the HW OPP have arrested and charged Ralph Link of Barrie with:

  • Theft by person holding power of attorney CC 331
  • Misappropriation of money held under direction CC 332
  • Criminal breach of trust CC 336
  • Fraud over $5,000 CC 380(1)(a)

He is to appear in Collingwood court on Dec. 11, 2018 to answer to the charges.

Additionally, Marcel Bottineau of Midland was also involved in the incidents was charged with :

  • Theft over $5,000 CC 334(a)
  • Theft under $5,000  CC 334(b)
  • Fraud over $5,000 CC 380(1)(a)

He appeared in Barrie bail court on Nov. 1, 2018 for the charges.
