Truck sought in Vaughan shooting found abandoned in Bradford field

York Regional Police have also identified the victim, who died at the scene Aug. 2, as a 32-year-old Toronto man

Investigators with the York Regional Police homicide unit have identified the victim and would like to thank the media and our community after tips led to the identification and location of a suspect vehicle that was involved in a shooting in the city of Vaughan.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, shortly after 5:30 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a strip plaza located at 8074 Islington Ave., for a report of a shooting.

When officers arrived they located a man outside who had been shot. He was pronounced at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Marwan Awdi, 32, from the city of Toronto.

An image of a black Ford F150 pickup truck that was seen fleeing the area was released along with an appeal to the community for information.

Due to tips received, the vehicle was identified and was located unoccupied in the area of 5th Line and 10th Sideroad in the town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Investigators continue to appeal to anyone with information who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward.
