ORILLIA - On Monday, June 12 and Tuesday, June 13, 2017 the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in partnership with the OPP Hate Crime/Extremism Unit have reserved the above two days for the Tour For Humanity (T4H) to attend our area and speak to four Orillia area elementary schools from Grades 5 to 8.

The T4H is a mobile human rights education centre designed to teach students, educators, community leaders and front-line professionals about topics of human rights, tolerance, justice, democracy and Canadian civic rights and responsibilities.

It is a 30-seat, wheel-chair accessible, state-of-the-art, technologically advanced classroom that travels across the province, presenting lessons on the effects and consequences of hate and intolerance. Designed to inspire and empower people of all ages and backgrounds to create positive change in their schools and communities, the Tour for Humanity provides education on historic events from both national and global perspectives, and encourages Canadians to raise their voices against hatred, bigotry and racism.

On Monday, June 12, 2017, the T4H will be parked at the Foodland parking lot at Laclie Street and Fittons Road from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Couchiching Heights Public School will attend for two classes in the morning and Monsignor Lee Catholic School will attend for two classes in the afternoon.
