A three-vehicle crash Monday morning has shut down a stretch of Highway 93 near Highway 12.

UPDATE:

A 28-year-old Barrie man has been charged with three counts of careless driving causing bodily harm contrary to the Highway Traffic Act as a result of the crash that sent the accused and three victims to hospital with serious injuries this morning.

The accused will appear before the Provincial Court of Justice on Aug. 21 to face the charges.

Investigators wish to thank area residents and motorists alike for their patience today as the roadway was closed for almost eight hours during the investigation.

Highway 93 is currently shut down, Southern Georgian Bay OPP say.

At about 7:30 a.m. Monday morning, a three-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 93. Three people were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say the north- and sound-bound lanes of the highway are closed between Ebenezer SideRoad and Highway 12.

Police have not released any further information about the crash.

As of 11:30 a.m., the road remained closed.
