Three people, including Barrie man, face trafficking charges after drug probe

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), have arrested and charged two males and one female with numerous drug offences in the City of Barrie.

On Sept. 30, 2020, approximately 3:30 p.m., as the result of an ongoing drug investigation, police arrested the three parties while they were entering a vehicle in the parking lot of a Dunlop Street restaurant. Further investigation led to the seizure of quantities of Cocaine, Fentanyl and Canadian currency.

As a result, Rodrigo Martinez, age 21, of Orillia, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - other drugs, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code

The accused has been held for a bail hearing and is set to appear on Oct. 1, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Jessie Barwell, age 21, of Barrie, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on Nov. 10, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Virginia Mark, age 36, of Orillia is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - other drugs, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking and is set to appear on Nov. 10, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
