The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a number of thefts were reported from the same location in the City of Barrie.

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, a male attended the Toys R Us located at 30 North Village Way (Park Place) on two separate occasions and stole some baby monitors.

These thefts were not detected until a third visit by the same suspect netted him additional baby monitors. This time, as he exited the store, the anti-theft alarm sounded which alerted staff to what was taking place. The male was last seen running across the parking lot where he jumped into a black-coloured Honda passenger car.

A review of the in-store surveillance security cameras revealed the earlier thefts and provided the police with a detailed description of the person responsible. In total, just over $1,500 in Summer Infant baby monitoring systems were obtained.

The suspect is described as male white, approximately 55-65 years old, clean shaven, wearing a grey baseball cap, grey button down shirt, black jacket, black dress pants and black dress shoes.

Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact Constable Reynolds of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025, ext. 2615 or by email at [email protected]. You can also contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or leave an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.
