On Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at 8:05 p.m., the Barrie Police Service was notified of a mischief that had just taken place at the Lampman Lane Community Centre.

Upon arrival at the community centre, police learned that a group of male youths were observed in the area of a rear door. One youth was seen throwing rocks, which caused a window in the door to shatter and break.

Responding officers were provided a detailed description of the person responsible and although he and his friends fled into a nearby wooded area, he was taken into custody without incident as he emerged from the woods a short time later.

The youth, who is a 14-year-old Barrie resident, has been charged with mischief under $5,000 and was held for a bail hearing, which is scheduled to take place later today by video, with the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie.
