Suspended driver accused of fleeing police, speeding north of Highway 9

NEW TECUMSETH - On Dec. 10, 2019, shortly before 2:30 p.m. members from the Nottawasaga and Caledon Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) worked together to safely apprehend a suspect that refused to stop.

A Caledon officer was conducting radar enforcement on Highway 9 when their attention was drawn to a vehicle travelling at high speed. Police attempted to stop the un-plated vehicle but the driver continued to drive at high speeds.   

Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment were made aware of the incident and responded to the area of Highway 9 and County Road 50 to assist. The vehicle and driver were located quickly just north of Highway 9 resulting in the arrest of the driver.  

Salvatore "Sam" Giuliano 37 years old of Palgrave, Ont. was arrested and charged with:
  • Flight from police
  • Dangerous operation - motor vehicle
  • Drive While under suspension
  • Speeding 1-49 km/hr over the posted limit

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on Jan. 2, 2020.
