Suspected cocaine seized after vehicle stopped for speeding: Police

The 35-year-old is also accused of having open liquor in the vehicle

A 35-year-old Innisfil man was charged after police stopped a speeding vehicle and seized suspected cocaine.

On Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at 11:15 a.m., a South Simcoe Police Service officer conducting speed enforcement observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Shore Acres Drive in Innisfil.  

Police locked the speed of the vehicle at  114 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone and a traffic stop was conducted at Yonge Street and County Road 89. The officer observed open alcohol in the vehicle and conducted a search under the Liquor Licence Act. A quantity of suspected cocaine was located and the driver was placed under arrest.

Leonardo Fracassi, 35, of Innisfil, [has been] charged with possession of suspected cocaine, speeding, fail to have insurance card and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.  He was released on the scene with a future court date.
