Barrie police are trying to identify a man who allegedly damaged a car in a north-end parking lot recently.

Police say the incident happened Friday, June 19 around 5:30 p.m., at the Canadian Tire on Bayfield Street.

Police spokesperson Peter Leon told BarrieToday the man "slugged" the driver-side mirror on the vehicle after leaving the store.

Leon said the man, who is now wanted on a mischief charge, had been "acting somewhat erratically."

Damage to the vehicle was around $150.

Someone saw the incident happen in the parking lot, went into the store and informed staff about what had transpired outside. They followed up with an in-store broadcast.

"They took the time to address it properly without physically getting involved with this individual," Leon said.
