Suspect in last week's hit-and-run identified: police

14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after being struck Friday afternoon in a plaza parking lot near Johnson and Grove streets

Barrie police say they have located the driver who was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run on July 23 at a plaza in the city’s northeast end.

Police say a 14-year-old boy was struck while riding his bicycle in the plaza parking lot near Johnson and Grove streets around 3 p.m. on Friday.

The driver of the car that struck the teen, according to police, had left the scene without offering any assistance.

The young cyclist sustained minor, lower-body injuries and was transported by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) in Barrie.

Police are investigating after locating witnesses and the driver. It's unknown whether any charges have been laid.
