Suspect flashes handgun during Vaughan bank robbery

This man is wanted following a bank robbery Wednesday in Vaughan.

Police are looking for a suspect following an armed robbery Wednesday at a Vaughan bank.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 5, York Regional Police were called to a bank in the area of Highway 7 West and Marycroft Avenue.

A man had entered the bank and waited in line to speak with a teller. When he was called to a desk, he demanded money and flashed a handgun, police stated in a news release.

The suspect fled with cash and was last seen walking south on Marycroft Avenue.

He is described as being about 40 years old and was wearing a burgundy jacket, black pants, a black tuque and a black medical mask. He spoke with a Middle Eastern accent.

Police are asking anyone who saw something suspicious or has dash-cam footage from the area between 10 and 11 a.m. to come forward.
