Students teaming up with OPP for bike-a-thon

On Wednesday May 16, 2018 the Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police will be assisting with a Bike-A-Thon from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Guthrie Public School Oro Medonte Township.  

Grade 7 and 8 students plan to raise money for the Canadian Pancreatic Cancer Association and to raise more awareness of this cancer.

Approximately 100 students will be participating along with detachment OPP officers. The route starts at Guthrie Public School, crosses over Ridge Road then turns left on the rail trail. The rail trail crosses over Lines 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Students will be biking on Line 5 to and from the school to the rail trail access South of Ridge Rd. 

Officers from the Barrie OPP Detachment will be directing traffic and patrolling the area. The motoring public is reminded to exercise caution when sharing the roadway with cyclists.
