Officers from South Simcoe Police continued their efforts to keep local roadways safe Friday night by conducting RIDE checks in both Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil.

In total, 415 were stopped by police.

Two drivers will be ringing in 2017 without their drivers licence after they were issued a 3-day drivers licence suspension after registering in the warn-range on a roadside screening device. A 54-year-old Bradford man will be starting the New Year with a court date after he was stopped on Tenth Side Road and police discovered marijuana inside his vehicle.

As we prepare to celebrate 2017, South Simcoe Police want to remind party-goers that RIDE checks will be conducted throughout the evening and into the early morning hours.

Drivers need to plan their safe ride home in advance.

Public transit, taxi's, driving services and designated drivers are all safe options to get you home safely. Go transit will be offering late night service and free rides beginning at 7 p.m. tonight. For more information, visit http://www.gotransit.com/publicroot/en/default.aspx
