SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

The officer credited with starting the South Simcoe Police Ceremonial Mounted Unit is heading to Philadelphia this weekend to participate in the 2017 North American Police Equestrian Championships.
Auxiliary Constable Jacqueline Papel will be travelling to the event to participate in the Equitation, Uniform and Obstacle Course portion of the games. Sworn and auxiliary members are eligible to compete in the North American Championships that are open to all law enforcement agencies with a Mounted Unit.
Papel will not be travelling with the horses used by South Simcoe Police, but instead competing on a horse owned by the Painesville Police Department in Ohio.
Auxiliary Papel, an experienced equestrian, is credited with spearheading the implementation of horses with the South Simcoe Police Service. The Mounted Unit was introduced earlier this spring in recognition of the service's 20th anniversary. Auxiliary Constable Papel trains at Briarwood Farms in King Township, under coach Jan Humphrey.
Her participation in the games is being sponsored by a Bradford business, Krueger Designs. "I was really excited to see a Mounted Unit introduced in South Simcoe earlier this year," says owner Jim Krueger. "These games will provide South Simcoe Police with international exposure, which I am proud to support."
