NEWS RELEASE

SOUTH SIMCOE POLICE

BRADFORD, ON - On Thursday, January 19, 2017, South Simcoe Police, along with our partners from Go Transit, will be at the Bradford Go station.

We will be reminding commuters that rail service on the Barrie line has been extended, with Go Transit offering weekend trains. The service, which began with the new year, provides local residents with three trains daily to Toronto, with return trips in the evening.

This new service means that the rail line and crossings will be used on the weekend, and local residents need to be aware when crossing or walking near the tracks.

"Pedestrians should never be on the rail line", said South Simcoe Police Constable Rich Williamson. "It's unsafe but it's also private property, and anyone walking on the line is trespassing. With these added trains, we want people to remember that Train Time Is Anytime."

Drivers also need to be alert when using any of the level crossings in the area.

"The railway crosses almost all of our east/west roads in Bradford and Innisfil", said Williamson. "Some crossings are signalized with stop arms, but others are not. We want drivers to be aware that they must use caution, and obey all signals every day of the week."

The weekend schedule has trains leaving the Barrie South Go Station and travelling through Innisfil at 9:11 a.m, 9:55 a.m., and 11:10 a.m, arriving in Bradford at 9:32 a.m., 10:16 a.m., and 11:31 a.m. Return trips arrive in Bradford at 5:35 p.m, 10:57 p.m., and 11:57 p.m. They too will travel through the Innisfil corridor, arriving in Barrie at 5:55 p.m., 11:17 p.m., and 12:17 a.m.
