Smash-and-grab suspect spotted at Anne Street gas station

Someone broke into a truck January 16 on Lake Crescent, stealing tools and a wallet; stolen debit card used at 24-hour gas station

The Barrie Police Service is appealing to the public for assistance after a mischief and a fraud were reported in the City of Barrie.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, a resident of Lake Crescent awoke to find the passenger-side window of his truck had been smashed out overnight. The person responsible then obtained a 14-inch Stihl concrete saw, a Spectra laser level (that was in a yellow case) and a wallet that was left locked in the vehicle. The property that was stolen is estimated at $2,600.

An unknown suspect’s image was captured on video surveillance at an Anne Street North, 24-hour gas station after a debit card belonging to the victim was used at 4:14 a.m. that morning to purchase Belmont Regular – 25s and Paul Mall Special cigarettes.
