Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with our community partners in emergency services want to remind all surface users to be watchful for changing ice conditions on our area frozen surfaces.

Today, officers and County of Simcoe Paramedics attended the ice surface at the mouth of Penetanguishene Bay between Coutnac Beach and Marygrove Camp after a male was ejected from his snowmobile after it struck a pressure crack.

He was transported to Georgian Bay General Hospital for medical treatment. Reports from area residents state that others may have struck the same pressure crack

Remember, no ice is safe ice, know before you go and consider the risks to yourself and others should you venture out on frozen surfaces.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, waterways and roadways. Educating the public about safe driving practices is a priority.
