OPP investigating shooting incident in Collingwood

Male transported to Toronto hospital following incident on Second Street; police say there's no threat to public safety

COLLINGWOOD - Detectives from the Crime Unit of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating an incident in Collingwood where a male was injured and taken to hospital.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. this morning, OPP officers and Simcoe County Paramedic Services attended a location on Second Street in regards to a male that was injured as a result of a discharge of a firearm.

The male was transported to a local hospital and later sent to a Toronto-area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Collingwood/The Blue Mountains OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) and OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT).

Investigators have determined that there is no concern for public safety
