Sewing needle found in candy bar

ANGUS - On July 15, 2019 the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from a concerned citizen who found a sewing needle inside a candy bar. 

Officers met with the individual that purchased several candy bars on July 14, 2019 in Angus. Officers immediately notified the store and informed them of the incident.  

The wrapping was inspected, but officers were unable to determine if the needle was introduced during or after manufacturing. The manufacturing company was notified of the incident and provided the lot number of the involved bar.

In response to the incident, the company is taking the appropriate steps to ensure that all quality standards are being upheld. At this time the exact method of how the needle was introduced into the candy bar is still unknown, the investigation is ongoing.

The Nottawasaga OPP encourages our local residents to inspect the wrappers of candy bars of any type prior to consumption.
