Police are looking to identify a male who was captured on video surveillance using stolen financial cards on two separate occasions in the City of Barrie in the month of January.

In the first incident, the victim received an alert from their bank in the early hours of Jan. 11 alerting them to suspected fraudulent activity on their accounts. Later that morning, the victim discovered that their vehicle had been entered sometime overnight, and their wallet had been stolen. It was determined that several cards were used to make fraudulent transactions at a Barrie convenience store.

In the more recent incident, on Jan. 24, the suspect attempted to make a purchase at a different Barrie convenience store using a stolen credit card; however, the store’s terminal advised the clerk that the card should be seized and the bank should be contacted. The suspect exited the store, leaving the card with the clerk.

The suspect is described as:
    •    Male, white
    •    Approximately 5’10” tall, with a thin build and a thick, dark beard
    •    Wearing a black coat with brown patches on the shoulders and arms and a white square image on the left chest, a black winter hat with a white icon on the front, and a blue or black hoodie

Investigating officers are asking anyone who may have information to please contact Constable T. Plumpton of the Barrie Police Service at 705-725-7025 ext. 2704 or [email protected]. Any information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or leave an anonymous tip online.
