Numerous police officers responded to a crash involving a suspected impaired driver Tuesday afternoon in downtown Barrie, not far from the city's transit terminal.

Police were called to the scene around 3:50 p.m., Sept. 20, at Dunlop and Maple streets.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Jennett Mays told BarrieToday the responding officer required assistance taking the driver into custody.

A photo on a Facebook group shows several police vehicles surrounding a vehicle at the downtown intersection.

Mays said more details will be made available Wednesday.
