Saturday's funeral for slain OPP officer will be livestreamed

Const. Marc Hovingh's funeral will take place at Manitoulin Secondary School on Saturday

You will be able to watch the funeral of slain OPP officer Marc Hovingh, say officials.

On Nov. 19, Manitoulin OPP Const. Marc Hovingh, who spent a large part of his childhood in Barrie, was killed in the line of duty during an investigation in Gore Bay. 

His funeral will be taking place at Manitoulin Secondary School located in M'Chigeeng First Nation on Saturday, Nov. 28, beginning at 1 p.m.

"Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at the funeral service will be strictly limited and by invitation only," says a release from the OPP. "Bay Street will be restricted to funeral traffic only."

Upon conclusion of the funeral service, the procession will leave the school and travel on Highway 540 to Little Current and continues on to internment via Highway 6.
