244 charges laid during road safety blitz

Barrie Police Traffic Unit conducted a Road Safety Blitz focusing on Community Safety Zones throughout the week of Monday, Sept. 10 to Friday, Sept. 14. 

Throughout the week, the Traffic Unit covered all corners of the City of Barrie, laying 244 charges including two criminal charges. During the blitz, a variety of commercial motor vehicles were also stopped and inspected which led to two drivers being charged with an additional 14 charges. 

The Traffic Unit also conducted RIDE throughout the city with over 475 vehicles checked. Officers used Roadside Screening Devices for alcohol impairment and standardized field sobriety test for drug impairment.

As well, officers were able to take two suspended drivers off the road and lay an additional four Highway Traffic Act charges.
