Report of erratic driving leads to impaired charge for Barrie woman

A 36-year-old Barrie woman received a three-day licence suspension after police were called about a suspected impaired driver.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019 around 10 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to a report of a vehicle driving erratically southbound on Yonge Street into Bradford.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Bridge Street and an odour of alcohol was detected.

The female driver failed a roadside screening device test. She was transported to South Division.

After breath testing she was issued a three-day licence suspension and released.

About one in four road fatal collisions involve a drunk driver. Impaired driving is a crime in progress.

We continue to encourage our citizens to safely call 9-1-1 if you spot a suspected impaired driver. On Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, South Simcoe Police Service officers responded to 66 calls for service.
