After several months of complaints from hundreds of Bradford residents, South Simcoe Police Service officers conducted a multi-agency enforcement campaign on the evening of Friday, August 9, 2019.

The initiative targeted speeding and exhaust noise in and around the subdivisions of Bradford. Assisted by York Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Bradford Bylaw and the Ministry of the Environment, officers issued over 100 charges.

A 21-year-old Bradford man had his licence plates seized when an inspection revealed his vehicle’s complete exhaust system had been modified including the removal of the vehicle’s emission control equipment. He had been ticketed for noise two days prior.

A 24-year-old man had his G2 licence suspended after testing positive for the presence of drugs. An additional 4 drivers were tested for drugs and alcohol yielding two additional suspensions.

Residents of Bradford are fed up with being unable to sleep with their windows open for fear of being disturbed by noisy exhaust. Officers will continue to target drivers whose vehicles disturb others.

Project ERASE stands for Eliminate Racing Activity On Streets Everywhere and is an enforcement campaign operated jointly by police services across Ontario.

Last night’s Project ERASE North campaign involved a total of seven agencies targeting Bradford and Barrie.

Thank you to the policing and public safety partners who took part: Barrie Police Service, Ontario Provincial Police, Halton Regional Police, Peel Regional Police, York Regional Police, Ministry of Environment and Bradford ByLaw.
